My grown-up New Year!

You know how there is this perfect plan that sounds amazing in your head and on paper and then BAM! things change and your plans go outta the window? Well, that is what happened to my NYE plan. In my head I was going to 'club' the night away wearing my perfect sequined little skirt with the perfect heels ringing in the New Year with my hubs by my side and having a good time with his friends and their wives.

But then babies happened (well, they happened to two of his friends a while ago) , and the 'plan' was to hang out with the 'domesticated' friends and  leave around 11 to the club with the other couple friends and single friends. Sounds good? But, throw in a few indecisive men and women talking and a few running after the kids, you suddenly realise that it's 11:30 and you haven't changed into your NYE outfit!

The 2011 me would have dragged husby to a corner and made a big fuss and pouted and whined about how much I wanted to be out in a club at midnight..blah blah..But, guess what the new 2012 me did! I just smiled, poured myself another glass of wine ( I needed that!) , made small talk, ran around the kids and saw the ball drop on TV (yup, I did!) and rang in the New Year in a house. But as I looked around, I realized I was surrounded by people that were a part of my husband's life when he was a student and if that made him happy to be around them on NYE, so be it! And I rang in the New Year cuddling up to my husby!

We eventually did go out at 1:00AM.And we did have fun . So what if I didn't get to wear my cute skirt and heels, but it is all about the priorities. I decided not to complain about frivolous things and not sweat the small stuff :)
Here's to the new grown-up me and hopefully I continue to be the non-whiny, non-complaining (non-bitchy) person that I was when the clock struck 12:00 and as we entered 2012!Thanks gayatri ! Your resolution post helped me get out of my writer's block :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR you guys :)

  1. I did not behave like a grown up as during the NYE party, I did take my husband in the corner and sulked badly because my husband's friend's friend's wife looked at me from head to toe and then gave me an ugly look and turned away and was looking down at the floor when introductions were being made...such things happen when you move to an all new place, leaving your good friends behind :( :(

will take inspiration from you and gayatri now to not let such negative people affect me :) :)

I was having difficulty commenting on your blog from mozilla. Atleast figured out, it works fine with IE. Could be all the security setting on my machine.

  9. LOL It is funny how we change as years go by and we look back and laugh at the person we were in the past, reacting in different ways to similar situations. :)
