Of Cakes n Cookies

Every family has its own traditions when it comes to celebrating festivals. Growing up, our family tradition was to put a christmas tree, lighting outside our home, bake fruit cake with mom, make lot of sweets with the entire family in the kitchen making a mess helping out mom. It was a fun, bonding time for us as a family with all our faces smudged with flour, cracking jokes, staying up late to finish what we started.

Now that I have my own little family unit , we are making our own traditions that we can pass onto our kids. We have tried to combine both our family's traditions and come up with our very own. It is going to be cakes and cookies for us. There is so much fun decorating christmas cookies and baking a traditional christmas cake. We have officially decided that this is exactly what we want to do as 'our' very own family tradition :D And of course, opening the christmas presents under the tree in our PJ's on christmas morning:)

Last year, we could not do this because we were in India and the last thing we wanted was to tell our parents that we are all grown-up and we want to set our traditions! To us, we are still their babies :p

So, this year, we kick started 'our' family tradition. Here's a lil  peek :)

Merry Christmas to all my lovely Blogger friends and a Happy New Year! But I am pretty sure I will blog before New year's :)

Before and after

Hubs and I have been married for a little over a year now, and it has been a 'learning' experience for the both of us! I,for sure have learned how to deal with hubs! We women are fast learners ;)

BEFORE:
Scene : We are driving to our friend's place for the weekend.

Hubs: Babe, we have to leave from their place atleast by three on sunday so that I can get some rest before I get back to work
Me : Swts, When you are with your friends, you always lose track of time and we always end up leaving very late. So, three is a little too ambitious. Why not make it around five?
Hubs: Why do you  have to always argue ?
Me : Grrr....What do you mean? I never argue..And this is not even an argument ( Getting all technically correct on poor hubs! :P) I am just giving you a suggestion..bahh
Hubs : Yes, you do argue. You want to have the last word, all the time!
Me : Ofcourse not , I don't have to have the last word all the time :p Whatever!!

The drive till our friend's place in absolute silence, with us fighting over the songs that is playing on the ipod!

Sunday :
We leave our friend's place at 8:00 PM , with me giving a " I-told-you-so" look to hubs!

Hubs : *Giving a "Awww..I love youuuu" look and a smile *

A Happy Drive ahead!

So What Wednesday..

I follow this lovely blog Life After I Dew , and I absolutely love the post she does on Wednesdays. I thought I will give it a try :) So, here goes :

                                                  SO WHAT IF...
  • I always wake up after my hubs wakes up.
  • I ALWAYS pick up a small Ferrero Rocher packet  when we are standing in the Que for checkout at the Grocery store.
  • I  de-activate my Facebook account once in a while when FB comes up with new updates that I don't like just to prove a point ;) (And I give in and get right back to the world of Facebooking )
  •  I packed ALL my sarees and had to pay 150$ at the Airport for baggage overweight AND I have just worn one saree out of my collection.
  • I need an organizer for all the lists I make. I am a listomaniac.
  •  I don't leave my house without Kajal in my eyes. EVER. Even when I am sick, I have to have my eye makeup :p
  • I look at my reflection everytime I pass by a store. There is a reason they are made of glass!
  • I always ask for water without ice at restaurants.
  • I am blogging when I am supposed to be packing stuff as we are moving to a new house in two days..eeks..
        So what? :)

Dear Me...

If we all knew Then what we know Now and what we have learnt now , would our lives be better?  If you met your younger-college-going  self now, What advice would you give her?
I was listening to the song 'If I knew then What I know Now'  by Kenny Rogers and it made me think, I thought it would be a fun thing to write a letter to my younger self!
Dear My-younger-self,

The thick eyebrows that you always hated in your teens, Don’t hate it. It is going to be the most beautiful eyebrows once you go to college . Wait till your mom permits you to go and get your eyebrows shaped!

Don’ t be impulsive. you will realize later that for every action , there is a reaction. You have to live with the consequences.

That dress you wore for the school picnic, just what were you thinking :-o

Don’t dress up for a guy. Dress up because you want to look and feel good for yourself.

Don’t be embarrassed if the guy you have a crush on finds out about it and does not reciprocate. you are going to have guys who are going to fall head over heels in love crush ( If that makes sense !) with you! You will see.

Don’t wear block heels or sandals with socks, no matter how cold it is. Period.

Don’t cry over ‘that’ guy. He is not your true love. I repeat NOT.

Listen to your mom and dad. Trust me. They really do know what is best for you.

Help mom in the kitchen. How did mom do it without complaining? you will realize that once you are married ;)

Spend time with your girlfriend even when you are busy in a relationship.

Spend more time with God.

Say ‘Thank you’ more often to Mom and Dad.

Spend less time on the phone and more time with your brothers and give them advice when they come to you for one. Before you know it, they are not going to be needing your advice, but would be giving you one! They grow up so fast!

Don’t be selfish. The world does not revolve around you. NO, It does not!

Always wear sunscreen and sunglasses.

Enjoy every moment.

Don’t worry about that ugly pimple, you will learn that people are not superficial. They love you no matter what.

Keep in touch with all your friends.

You will develop a passion for shopping.

Don’t be paranoid about birthdays. You will still look the same, even better than how you look now!

Don’t go looking for Mr. right in Mr. Wrongs. Just wait. You will fall in love with the most wonderful man and you will be happily married.

Be more organized.

Love your body just the way it is. Trust me, You will want this waistline back when you look back at pics taken during the college days :p

Don’t live on pepsis and cokes and burgers. Have that occasional salad too!

Don’t try to please everyone.

Moisturize,Moisturize, Moisturize.
Much Love,
Much-Wiser Nat.
xoxoxo ( And oh! There is this show called Gossip Girl that you will love, who uses xoxo's when she finishes her blog! So, it's still cool ;) Who knew! )

If I knew all this then , I probably would have had a perfect life, but these are the things that have made me into the person that I am today. It’s not all  that bad  NOT knowing everything then, I guess!!
What's on your list? Would love to hear from you :) you can also take it up as a tag:) I think I saw it as a tag on one of the blogs!)
